Gunfire Erupts at Howe Park Sends Four People Injured in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade

Sacramento authorities are probing a shooting that occurred on April 18 2026 at Howe Park at the time authorities were dissolving an unsanctioned gathering of hundreds of attendees.

How It Started

Sacramento County law enforcement were first dispatched to the Arden-Arcade park just after 6:30 Saturday evening after receiving reports of individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons. Shortly after, a second call came in Howe Community Park shooting 2026 concerning a potential altercation unfolding at Howe Park.

An overhead unit conducted an aerial sweep but could not confirm any ongoing fight. However, it became clear that a massive group had gathered without authorization without authorization.

The Moment Gunfire Erupted

Responding units moved to clear the area by setting up around the park's perimeter and using their vehicle PA systems ordering the crowd to vacate the area. Roughly 15 minutes were provided for the gathering to break up.

It was during this dispersal that an estimated 20 to 25 shots were discharged. The shots triggered a stampede. Deputies at once began locating gunshot victims.

Four Gunshot Victims

When the dust settled, four shooting victims were discovered with shooting injuries. Those injured — including a female and three males all reportedly in their mid to late twenties — were airlifted or driven to Sacramento area hospitals. Doctors and nurses confirmed that two had critical injury classifications, one of the four had moderate gunshot wounds, and one had injuries classified as minor. According to authorities, all four were expected to survive.

Sacramento Metro Fire also responded and helped care for those who had been shot before they were taken to the hospital.

Crime Scene Evidence

The primary shooting scene seemed to have occurred along Cottage Way adjacent to the local Home Depot located at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Law enforcement investigators located additional shell casings on the Cottage Way roadway. Projectile impacts were observed in the iron fence adjacent to the Home Depot store. This evidence pointed to that one of the gunmen had been shooting in a southerly direction from the Cottage Way area aimed at the Home Depot. The nearby Home Depot was put under lockdown while law enforcement worked the area. Crime scene personnel kept processing evidence through the early morning hours.

Suspect Vehicle Located

Details gathered through scanner monitoring confirmed that a Kia connected to the shooting had been detained in Solano County California. Four individuals were held for questioning. Deputies were dispatched to Solano County to bring the suspects back for investigation. Video evidence established that two separate shooters participated in the incident.
